Sweet and Simple Strawberry Lemonade Recipe – Eckert’s

There’s nothing quite like a glass of lemonade when the weather gets warmer. Picture it – the sun is shining overhead, and flowers are blooming… What could be better than fresh lemonade? The answer is, fresh strawberry lemonade!

I love fruit and berries in my lemonade in general – whether it’s freshly picked blackberries or even cherries, the added sweetness and tartness go a long way to make traditional lemonade even tastier.

Of course, nothing beats a good strawberry lemonade recipe, though. This classic recipe is sweet, sour and has all the flavor of both strawberries and lemons. (Bonus points if you picked your strawberries fresh during strawberry season at Eckert’s Belleville Farm or Versailles Orchard location!) While strawberry syrup can make strawberry lemonade easy, it definitely doesn’t compare to the real deal.

The Best Recipe for Strawberry Lemonade

For this homemade strawberry lemonade recipe, I wanted my ingredients to be as fresh as possible, so I made everything I could from scratch, including the lemon juice, strawberry puree and simple syrup. The lemon juice is, of course, easy to make, but making strawberry puree is also a breeze! The strawberries just need to be added to a food processor or blender with enough water to keep things wet while being pulsed. Then, you can strain your strawberry puree to remove any seeds in case you’re like me and don’t like them in your lemonade – but they can make a fun addition that make your drink look more rustic.

Making simple syrup is also very easy, and something that everyone should know how to do! By adding two cups of water to a cup of white sugar and boiling the mixture, you can combine the two to make a syrup that’s perfect for all of your needs. I prefer making simple syrup over adding white sugar to the lemonade to avoid any grittiness that might come from the sugar not dissolving thoroughly enough.

When you put all of the ingredients together, you’re left with a strawberry lemonade that’s packed with delicious flavors that are perfect for spring or summertime. If you’re feeling like showing off a little more, you can save a strawberry and slice of lemon for each glass and use them as garnish to make each cup look extra special.

Eat well!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh strawberries, stems removed
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • Slices of lemon and strawberries to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Using a blender or large food processor, puree the strawberries with one cup of water to preference. Optionally, strain the puree through a sieve to remove any seeds.
  2. Add two cups of water and the granulated white sugar to a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and stir until all sugar is dissolved, then remove from the heat and allow to cool.
  3. In a pitcher, combine the strawberry puree, lemon juice, remaining water and simple syrup mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon, breaking apart the strawberry puree. Refrigerate the mixture until cold.
  4. Serve with ice and enjoy!
