At Eckert’s Belleville Farm, we’ve planned this year’s Sunflower Experience with one goal in mind—giving guests more opportunities to enjoy the blooms throughout the season.
Instead of planting all of our sunflowers at the same time, we planted three separate fields on staggered schedules. As one field begins to reach its peak, another will be coming into bloom. This staggered planting helps extend the season and keeps fresh blooms available for a longer period.
If weather cooperates, we’re hoping to have beautiful sunflowers for three or more weeks, giving guests plenty of time to visit, take photos, and enjoy everything our Sunflower Experience has to offer.
Of course, Mother Nature has the final say. Rainfall, temperatures, and growing conditions can all affect when the flowers bloom and how long they last. We’ll provide regular bloom updates on our website and social media throughout the season so you can plan your visit at just the right time.
When Is the Best Time to Visit a Sunflower Field?
If your goal is to see the fields at their most vibrant, plan your visit during the first couple of weeks after the fields open. This is when the largest number of flowers are typically in bloom.
For photography, many visitors prefer:
- Early morning for cooler temperatures and softer light
- The hour before sunset for the warm, golden glow photographers call “golden hour”
Weekdays are often less crowded than weekends if you’re hoping for uninterrupted photos.
