There’s nothing quite like biting into a tree-ripened, juicy peach on a warm summer day—and at Eckert’s, we believe the best peaches come straight from the tree. If you’re wondering when peach season is at its peak in the Midwest, you’re in the right place.
When Is Peach Season at Eckert’s?
Peach season typically begins in mid-June and runs through mid-August at our family farms in Belleville & Grafton, Illinois and Versailles, Kentucky. The exact timing depends on weather and growing conditions, but this eight-week window is your best bet to enjoy sweet, flavorful, farm-fresh peaches right from the source.
Our team closely monitors the ripening process to ensure our guests experience peaches at their peak. We recommend checking our website or social media for real-time updates on availability and field conditions.
Pick-Your-Own Peaches: A Summer Tradition
At Eckert’s, Pick-Your-Own (PYO) peaches are more than just a farm visit—they’re a summer tradition. Guests are invited to stroll through our lush orchards and hand-pick their own bounty. Whether you’re visiting with your kids, planning a date, or simply want the freshest peaches possible, PYO peaches are a delicious way to connect with nature and support a working farm.
Field access passes are available for purchase online and include access to the orchard and plenty of photo-worthy moments. Don’t forget your camera—or your appetite.
What Peach Varieties Does Eckert’s Grow?
We grow several different varieties of peaches throughout the season to ensure peak quality and continuous availability. Early-season peaches tend to be clingstone (where the flesh clings to the pit), while late-season varieties are mostly freestone (easy to pit and great for baking or preserving). All are carefully chosen for their flavor, juiciness, and growing success in our Midwest climate.
Popular varieties we’ve grown include Red Haven, Loring and Cresthaven, among others.
